Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It has you curate a list, and this week’s prompt had a lot of different facets. I’m going with-
Ten Comics on My TBR
I always mean to read graphic novels and then I forget. I even have a friend who runs a comic book shop who periodically tells me that maybe I should read this or that. Nope, never actually get around to doing that.
#1 is clearly Saga. I even have the first graphic novel. I read the first comic inside of it and flipped through it a little, but never picked it back up. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time.
#2, The Wicked + The Divine. I did a transcript with Gillen McKelvie in it about a year ago now, where he talked a lot about Transformers and about how he became a comic book writer. It was all very interesting. I’ve been meaning to read this since then.
#3, Lumberjanes. Literally, the only thing recommended to me from people who read a lot of comics and those who don’t.
#4, Mouseguard. This is right up my Redwall loving, preteen self’s alley.
#5, Rat Queens. I really don’t see how this wouldn’t be on my TBR as far as graphic novels go.
#6, Bone. I remember reading bits and pieces of this back when it was serialized in Disney Magazine. Wow, what sort of weird 90’s throwback did I just mutter? I’ve never read the whole thing in order, but the snippets that I encountered were always interesting. Maybe it’s time to do so.
#7, Wires and Nerve. Once I finally get around to finishing Winter (whoops), I should really read the rest of this ‘verse, and that means reading the graphic novel.
#8, Parasyte. I watched like five or six of the anime, but everyone kind of looked the same because for whatever reason, Madhouse, the studio that produces it, if you don’t give them hair colors to work with, everyone kind of looks really basic and exactly the same. I got real confused really fast. I’ve heard the manga is better anyway.
#9, BASTARD!! (double !!, because they mean it.) Fantasy nonsense at it’s most nonsensical.
#10, is Claymore, which is a manga I’ve been slowly working through since it was recommended to me on Tumblr late last year. It’s some pretty intense stuff. I’m about a third of the way through the series. Kind of need to know what happens.
Saga, Rat Queens, and Lumberjanes I would recommend. They’re on my list too! I also need to catch up on the Lunar Chronicles I’ve only read Cinder and Scarlet, but I’ve heard Cress is really good and is where things start to pick up.

Cress is all right. I still feel like it suffers from ‘middle book syndrome’ where much of the plot isn’t moving and everyone is milling about. Good to get some extra recommendations on the graphic novels I want to read. I’ll have to make some time to sit down and read them!

I never read a comic book.So The only ones I read were the VA and Percy Jackson graphic novels. But we did something a little different. Allyson added some comics she read on her list.

They’re pretty quick to get through, if you want to try something different.

Nice list of book titles. I’ll have to add a few of them to my ever growing reading wishlist.
